Tourism / Discovery
Located 20 km from Castres, Mazamet is part of the Plus Beaux Détours de France. The city has preserved its large 19th century mansions in the heart of large private parks covered in flowers.
Do not miss the Himalayan passerelle, freely accessible 24 hours a day.
The passerelle is unique in Occitania and crosses the Arnette gorges, offering you a breathtaking view over the valley and city of Mazamet. Measuring 140 m long and perched 70 m high, it perfectly blends into the natural landscape of the Black Mountains. Thrills are guaranteed for this extraordinary experience!
Apart from enjoying the panorama, the passerelle allows you to reach the medieval village of Hautpoul. Discover vestiges of the Middle Ages, craft shops and the Maison du Bois et du Jouet. This 1,500 m² play area has many wooden games from all over the world as well as a game room and an arboretum (more than 50 tree species). Go to the Rocher de la Vierge and the old castle’s terraces for incredible viewpoints.
Back in Mazamet, enjoy the many hiking trails and the Passa Païs (walking and cycling path) in the heart of a preserved nature. For a walk in water, the Montagnès lake (8km from the campsite) will be the perfect spot! It is a real leisure base for the whole family: fishing, hiking, swimming, water games, mini-golf…
