Tourism / Discovery
This little coastal town of the Landes has many landscapes to offer: the Atlantic, Lake Léon and large forests.
This seaside resort of the Côte d’Argent is skirted by 17 kilometers of fine sandy beaches. Discover the two beaches of this destination labelled « Station Verte »: the wild Lettre Blanche and the private beach of Arnaoutchot.
Lake Léon is a little piece of paradise just right next to the area. Partly classified as a Nature Reserve and Natura 2000 site, it brings together adventurers and holidaymakers willing to stay in the middle of nature. In summer, the beach is supervised and many activities are offered: boat rides, paddle… Enjoy your walk around the lake and discover aquatic areas, Atlantic wet heaths, peatlands, meadows… It is also a perfect fishing spot: white fish, carnivorous fish and other varieties can be found in this 340 hectare lake.
Nature lovers will appreciate the unspoilt forest of the Landes where walking and biking paths are numerous. Some of them lead you to a few heritage sites of the region.
This land rich in natural sites still has vestiges of the past. Among them, the « Sauveté » of Saint-Girons is one of the oldest monuments in the region. Having at first a colonizing function for land valorisation, the « Sauvetés » of the south-west also hosted the pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela. Notice the filtering well of the town, discovered in 2013. It is the first filtering well built in 1856.
