Tourism / Discovery
Crossed by three rivers, Longny au Perche offers a bucolic setting, ideal for discovering its charming town center. A former barony of the Perche, the village has a rich heritage and has earned the « Petite Cité de Caractère » label. Its prosperity has long been based on the iron industry and trade. The town has preserved the typical buildings of the region and old half-timbered houses.
Several monuments will punctuate your discovery of the city: the Notre-Dame-de-Pitié chapel, the Saint-Martin church, the town hall and the Château Jumeau… which all remind of historical events that occurred in the region.
The town is also a mecca for French Gastronomy with its brotherhoods and its tripe and terrine competitions.
Located in the heart of the Perche Regional Park, enjoy some fresh air by walking in the countryside or in the forest. The Bandonnière hill (Coteau de la Bandonnière) overlooks the town and immerses you in an unspoilt area with a southern flavour: thyme and wild thyme, praying mantises and crickets… A trail leads you to the goats and sheeps that maintain the vegetation.
