Tours

Tourism / Discovery

Located only 2 hours from Paris and 10 minutes from the beaches, Caen, William the Conqueror’s city, is a lively and bustling metropolis all year round. Visit the city through its typical streets, religious buildings and other major monuments: the « Vaugueux » neighbourhood, where Edith Piaf’s family used to live, the Escoville Hôtel, the church Saint-Pierre, the Abbaye aux Dames (Sainte-Trinité) and the Abbaye aux Hommes (Saint-Etienne), the castle, which remparts offer an incredible view over the city, the Jardin des Plantes… The town center is well preserved and has many bars, restaurants and shops (Caen is known as the city with the most bookshops).

To get fully immersed in France History, have a look at the Mémorial de Caen and the landing beaches. The memorial is dedicated to the 20th century: World War II, D-Day landings, Battle of Normandy.
From Caen and by the « Voie verte » running along the canal, join the seaside resort Ouistreham and its landing beaches

For a bucolic stroll, a large floral park is located right behind the area: la Colline aux Oiseaux, created for the 50th D-Day anniversary. Discover a rose garden, theme gardens, maze, animal park… Activities for the whole family!
