Tourism / Discovery
Located 25 km north of Dijon, the flowery town of Is-sur-Tille is known as the French capital of crosswords. The first Crossword Festival was launched in 1990 and now offers word games for everyone.
A few monuments highlight the town’s heritage, including the Petit Clocher, surrounded by forests and classified as a « remarkable natural site ». Many paths lead you to the monument, perfect for a walk in nature. The forest in which the bell tower is located stretches to the Mauritaines farm. The Tille and Ignon valleys are part of the limestone plateau that extends around the Morvan. A few ideas for a hike: Le mont de Marcilly, Les Sabots de Vénus, the forest of Moloy or Le Creux Bleu de Villecomte.
You can also continue your walk along the Tille or Ignon rivers, passing through the town centre. If you like fishing, you can catch trout, pike and perch.
Don’t leave the region without tasting the local speciality: the Burgundy truffle. A festival on this theme is even organised every year in October, the « Fête de la Truffe et des Papilles ».
16 km from the campsite, discover the Grottes de Bèze, open from April to November. With a depth of 2 to 7 meters, explore the caves both on foot and by boat and observe the concretions highlighted by lighting.
