Brioux-sur-Boutonne is a charming village located 30 km from Niort in the heart of the Boutonne marshes.
Discover a very fine example of ancient heritage by following one of the paths leading to the ‘’Logis de Vezançais’’, its dovecote and its moat. Other hiking trails starting from the village take you for beautiful walks in nature and along the river, such as the ‘’Grand Marais’’ itinerary.
About 10 km from the campsite, the Zoodyssée animal park houses 800 animals and offers numerous activities for the whole family in the heart of the Chizé national forest. Observe bears, wolves, bison, vultures, marmots, storks and many other species in their natural environment.
A little further on, reach the ‘’Base de Loisirs du Lambon’’ (outdoor activities centre) and its lake. Enjoy a day in the open air thanks to the various facilities: big paddle, canoeing, archery, treetop course with a zip line…
Concerning heritage sites: a dozen Romanesque churches can be visited within 15 km of Brioux-sur-Boutonne (Secondigné sur Belle, Les Fosses, Villiers sur Chizé…). Discover the Renaissance castle of Dampierre-sur-Boutonne, classified as a National Heritage Site (‘’Monument Historique’’). Opt for a guided tour to fully understand the history and magic of the place.
