Tourism / Discovery

Nantes is a city of art, culture and history where all the tourist sites are easily accessible thanks to the extensive bus and tram network, as well as 570 km of cycle paths.

For a first discovery, follow the green line painted on the ground. Set up by ‘’Le Voyage à Nantes’’, this line will guide you through the streets and to the main monuments, works of art, cultural exhibitions and all the treasures of the destination.

During your stroll, you will surely encounter the ‘’Grand Elephant’’, part of the ‘’Machines de l’île’’ (Machines of the Isle of Nantes). Come aboard this mechanical elephant for a ride on the Ile de Nantes. Enjoy the banks of the Loire and admire the famous rings lit up at night.

Discover the famous historical monuments of Nantes: La tour LU, former biscuit factory, the Château des ducs de Bretagne (Castle of the Dukes of Brittany), emblematic 15th century site in the heart of the medieval quarter, the Place Graslin or the Passage Pommeraye, one of the most beautiful shopping arcade in Europe.

Nantes has many green spaces where you can escape. The Jardin des Plantes, classified as one of the ‘’Remarkable Gardens of France’’, welcomes you all year round in the city centre with more than 10,000 living species. It is one of the largest botanical gardens in France. The Jardin Extraordinaire is a unique site on the banks of the Loire, preserving a magnificent environment with multiple ponds and a 25-meter high waterfall. For a complete change of scenery, visit the Île de Versailles and its Japanese garden. Discover the garden on foot or hire an electric boat or canoe for a relaxing time.
