Tourism / Discovery
Jumièges is a charming village located in the Seine meanders, between Rouen (30 km) and Le Havre (70 km).
Little anecdote: it was in this village that Arsène Lupin first appeared at the end of the 19th century, in the novel « The Countess of Cagliostro ».
The Abbey of Saint-Pierre is a significant part of the village’s renown. Founded around 654, it still amazes with its two white towers rising almost 50 meters from the ground. It is one of the most ancient and important Benedictine monasteries of the West! Its destruction in the 19th century earned it the title of « most beautiful ruin of France ». Nowadays, the abbey is regularly consolidated to allow visitors on the site, all year round.
The abbey is also a place of legend, including the story of the « Loup Vert » (green wolf) brotherhood. Hear the story during the Loup Vert hike, in which you can both take a deep breath of air and enjoy a fascinating immersion.
Have a walk along the Seine or around the outdoor activities centre Le Mesnil. Both offer you relaxing strolls in nature. Le Mesnil also has many activities and events to be discovered all year round with your family and friends. Enjoy the beach, the lake, playgrounds and restaurants. In summer, enjoy Planèt Aventure: pedalo, kayak, paddle, karting, crazy golf, treetop adventure course, trampoline…
Cycle along the fruit route going through the orchards, running along the Seine and passing several historical monuments (62 km). Finally, the Brotonne national forest is just as interesting for your walks and bike rides.
