Motorhome area of Fumay (Ardennes)

Stay in the peaceful town of Fumay, located in the heart of the Ardennes Regional Park, on the French-Belgian border. The pretty green city was renowned for its slate industry until the 1970s. Visit its charming historic centre with its typical houses made of slate, brick or ‘’pierre de Dom’’ (local ochre stone). Do not miss the fresco (Avenue Jean Jaurès) exhibited in tribute to the ‘’Scailleteux’’, the men who extracted and sculpted the slate. For a relaxing moment, go to the port of Fumay (300 m from the motorhome stopover), where you can sit in a restaurant or café near the harbour master’s office. Ride along the ‘’Trans-Ardennes’’ bike path: a 120 km route along the Meuse, from Givet to Mouzon. A nice hike in the woods on the heights of Fumay allows you to enjoy a panoramic view of the town and the river. For a thrill, go to the adventure park ‘’TerrAltitude’’ (located on the former slate quarry) and enjoy its giant zipline over the Meuse (more than 1 km long)! Its exceptional location in the middle of the forest offers many activities for young and old alike: treetop course, paintball, inflatable structures, playgrounds… Open in summer.
