Tourism / Discovery

Welcome to the Mössinger Früchtetrauf! In the upper Steinlach valley, the district town of Mössingen nestles against the “blue wall” of the Swabian Alb. A magnificent landscape with 40,000 traditional orchard trees and abundant nature invites visitors to relax and explore. Stunning viewpoints, the geopoints of the UNESCO Swabian Alb Geopark, and the cultural offerings are among the highlights of the region. Thanks to the unique combination of extensive orchards and the impressive steep slopes of the Alb, the Mössinger Früchtetrauf is a paradise for hikers. The orchards and dry grasslands provide valuable habitats for numerous animal and plant species. Flower meadows give way to impressive beech forests along the Alb escarpment. In 1983, a huge section of the Alb escarpment collapsed into the valley. At Hirschkopf, visitors can now experience the geological development of the Alb in fast motion. Much of the landslide area, which is part of the UNESCO Swabian Alb Geopark and was designated a National Geotope in 2006, is protected nature reserve land. However, it can be explored via marked trails. From May to October, Germany’s only landslide guide also offers fascinating guided tours. The powerful sulfur springs of Bad Sebastiansweiler, valued for centuries, are still used today for medical purposes. The medieval tradition of therapeutic bathing continues with the modern sauna facilities. The sensory barefoot trail and fitness circuit in the beautifully maintained spa park complement the wellness experience perfectly. Our landscape is not only beautiful to admire: it is also where high-quality regional products and specialties are created using traditional craftsmanship, many of which are unique to this region. To let you discover these flavors, the “Genuss·Zeit” experience offers gourmet picnic bags and picnic baskets available upon request.
