Nestled in the Rhône Valley, Soyons is a charming village in Ardèche known for its exceptional natural and historical heritage. Less famous than its neighbors, it is in fact one of the oldest continuously inhabited sites in Europe, as shown by its prehistoric caves and archaeological museum.
Start your visit at the Soyons Museum, which tells the story of over 150,000 years of human history. The nearby Néron and Trou du Renard caves are within walking distance and offer a journey back to Prehistoric times. The town is also the starting point for scenic hikes overlooking the Rhône or winding through the Ardèche hills.
Thanks to its strategic location, Soyons is a great base to explore Valence (10 min away), the Cité du Chocolat Valrhona in Tain-l’Hermitage, or the Rhône Valley vineyards. On the nature side, the Rhône riverbanks offer developed paths for cyclists and walkers, with stunning views over limestone cliffs typical of the Ardèche.
