This first stage takes you to the city of violin makers, home to France's only school of violin making. Mirecourt is the ideal town for lovers of traditional skills, with violin-making, bow-making, basket-making and braiding all on offer.  The landscapes will entice you to relax, between beautifully rolling countryside, pastures and orchards. 

Things to do : 

  • Explore the Musée de la lutherie et de l'archèterie françaises in Mirecourt, created in 1973, and discover the history of violin making.
  • Visit the Maison de la Musique Mécanique to discover the Mirecourt serinettes, barrel organs and fairground organs... An astonishing collection of instruments dating back to the origins of mechanical music. On the first floor, the house houses magnificent lace stitches. Patient visitors can try their hand at embroidery. 
  • Hike in the forest on marked trails, discovering the woods and forests or the local heritage, or join a guide for a session of sylvotherapy and enjoy a real breath of woodsy air.

Here you are in the land of water! This journey ends on the plain, in the spa town of Contrexéville. Enjoy the view over the town's marvellous lake, with the fir-tree-clad Vosges massif in the background.

What to do: 

  • Enjoy the charm of Lac de la Folie. Cycling or walking, relaxing, swimming, thrills and spills at Accrofolies (accrobranche and tyrolienne), picnics and fishing - it's all there!   
  • Stroll by the Pavillon des Sources, one of the three elements of the Etablissement hydrominéral built in 1910 by Charles MEWES, along with the thermal baths and galleries, an iron and glass pavilion and beautiful mosaics. 
  • Relax in the 4-hectare Parc Thermal in the heart of the resort, with its rich variety of tree species.
  • Admire the Blue Fountains, in Carrara marble and enameled lava, created by architect Nicolas Normier. Hidden beneath the fountains, the Vair stream flows back into the open air in the Parc Thermal.
