Discover the mythical Grands Sites: the Cirque de Gavarnie (20km), the Pic du Midi de Bigorre (19km), the Pont d’Espagne in Cauterets (21 km).

You are now in Pierrefitte-Nestalas, a town that has known calm and quietness, ideal for a relaxing moment. 
However, those who would like more action will be satisfied by the activities offered by the territory.

SUMMER VERSION

We continue our journey in the Val-d'Azun, a natural destination with its picture-postcard landscapes and its authentic villages. 

SUMMER VERSION
Spend a day at the Val d’Azun leisure park in Arrens-Marsous: pump track, zipline, tennis, climbing…
Organise a picnic on the banks of Lac d’Estaing, accessible by car and only ten kilometres from the village of Arrens-Marsous. 
Rambling and fishing in the exceptional setting of the Pyrénées National Park to enjoy the surrounding nature to the fullest. 

WINTER VERSION
Discover the Val d’Azun also known as the “Eden of the Pyrenees” by snowshoeing or cross-country skiing.
Visit the Maison du Val d'Azun et du Parc national des Pyrénées: a permanent exhibition place where you can learn more about the region. 
Taste some local cheese, cow or sheep, this belongs to the ancestral tradition of this transhumance land (don’t forget to bring some back). 
 

The next stage is in the Argelès-Gazost Valley, more precisely in Agos-Vidalos, a village situated at 440m altitude. 

SUMMER VERSION
Visit the Pyrénées Animal Park (4km from the area): a must-see site classified among the 3 most beautiful zoos and parks in France! 
Go to the mythical Grands Sites: you are perfectly located to visit the Cirque de Gavarnie, the Col du Tourmalet or the Pont d’Espagne in Cauterets.
Cycle along the former railway which has become a 18km cycle path.  

WINTER VERSION
Have fun at the Hautacam ski resort: snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, sledding… Hautacam is a paradise for families! 
Explore all year round the paths of the Massif du Pibeste Regional Nature Reserve: a multitude of animal and plant species can be observed. 
Make some shopping in the traditional market of Argelès-Gazost: this 700 years old market is a real meeting place for the storekeepers and the farmers of the valley. 
 

Make the most of these places to discover the wealth of panoramas and territories illustrating the rich heritage of the Gers and Haut-Pyrénéens.

Things to do : 

The Maubourguet archaeological museum: from prehistory to the Middle Ages, come and discover a large number of archaeological remains and objects discovered in the canton.
The Benedictine abbey of Saint Sever De Rustan, with its Romanesque capitals and Gothic vaults, and its classical facades and Baroque woodwork.
Visit the Termes tower and its medieval keep, one of the finest examples of 13th-century Gascon military architecture, with an exceptional panoramic view of the Adour valley and the Pyrenees!
Immerse yourself in the subterranean world of the Grottes de Bétharram and admire the beauty of nature along the varied landscapes of a mountain carved out by water over the centuries. 

Come down now to reach the Pyrenean hills and Tournay. Situated on the Toulouse-Bayonne road  and close to Tarbes, the strategic location of Tournay makes an ideal stopping spot during your excursions.

Enjoy a relaxing time at the Tournay municipal swimming pool. 
Take a walk at the Tournay Arboretum: a wooded land with more than 170 different species of trees; larches, black pines, red oak, Lawson cypress…
Take a hike and admire the beauty of the sun-drenched hills. 

WINTER VERSION
Visit the unique in the world Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes, accessible by train from the Tournay railway station (30 minutes). 
Discover Tarbes and its rich heritage. The city is accessible by train from the Tournay railway station (10 minutes).
Taste the fruit jelly made by the Benedictin monks from the Tournay Abbey: quince, apricot, apple, citrus fruit, plum… 
 

Climb 700 meters to Arreau and Saint Lary Soulan in the Vallée d'Aure. Both a Grand Site d'Occitanie and a Pays d'Art et d'Histoire, Arreau is just a stone's throw from the Parc National des Pyrénées and the Néouvielle Nature Reserve, and 40 km from the medieval Spanish village of Ainsa via the Aragnouet-Bielsa tunnel. 

Saint-Lary Soulan is a charming mountain village, a beautiful ski resort and a spa all in one, all with the character of the Pyrenean terroir!

Wander through the medieval streets of Arreau and the village of Saint Larry.
