Tourism / Discovery

Couvin is a large territory located in the Rièzes and Sarts Belgian regions. The town offers hilly landscapes, deep forests, crystal clear waters and natural curiosities. The stopover area is in the former village of Cul-des-Sarts. Directly from the campsite, it is easy to reach the church, which is the starting point for several hiking trails: The “Promenade des Parçonniers” (blue signposts), 6.8 km long, The “Promenade du Gué des Bagneaux” (green signposts), a 6.6 km itinerary that leads to the Musée de la Vie Rurale (Country Life Museum), the surrounding countryside and the Cul-des-Sarts eco-educational trail, The “Circuit de la Tourbière” (red signposts) takes you along fields, villages and forest for 6.4 km. Whether on foot or by bike, follow the information panels on the surrounding biodiversity. At the Musée de la Vie Rurale, young and old alike can discover the life of yesteryear, before computers and electrical appliances, and the era of the clog-makers and their very special craft. This place is full of discoveries, enrichments and questioning. Situated 6 km from the campsite, Brûly-de-Pesche is a small village in the heart of a vast forest. It was the scene of important events during the 1940 war. This was the first major headquarters in Belgium, from where Hitler led the campaign to invade France. Today, the Ravin du Loup, the bunker, the cabins and other installations bear witness to this dark period. There is no better way to discover the local history and natural heritage than to climb aboard an authentic steam train and explore the "Three Valleys". Travel through the countryside from Mariembourg to Treignes. Once at the terminus, visit the museum 100 m from the station. Somewhere between dreams and nostalgia, the museum presents its “timeless” collection, a testimony to Belgium's industrial and railway past. The Neptune caves, carved out by the Eau Noire river, take you back thousands of years. They are among the oldest in the country and can be visited on foot, then by boat, before ending with a wonderful sound and light show.
