Nestled in the wooded landscapes of Rhineland-Palatinate, Kell am See is a popular destination for travellers seeking peace, quiet and fresh air. This German climatic health resort charms visitors with its relaxing atmosphere, welcoming town centre and preserved natural surroundings.
The town’s main attraction is the Kell reservoir, a large lake surrounded by forests. An easy 2.2 km trail allows visitors to walk all the way around it. Depending on the season, visitors can also enjoy fishing, pedal boating or simply relax by the water and admire the scenery.
Hiking enthusiasts will find an excellent starting point here for exploring the Saar-Hunsrück Trail and the “Hochwald Acht” loop, a route through forests, meadows and wild valleys. The area is also crossed by the Ruwer-Hochwald Cycle Route, a former railway line converted into a family-friendly cycle path linking the Trier region with Hermeskeil.
