Tourism / Discovery
Murviel-les-Béziers is a historical village with remarkable Languedoc Circulade architecture, and a rich heritage.
In the old center the castle-like church of Saint Jean Baptise is worth a detour. (It is one of the department's listed heritage buildings.) There are also the porches, and mullioned Renaissance style façades. You can follow a signposted itinerary around the village to discover its history and numerous key events and anecdotes.
There are a lot of archeological sites from the Gallo-Roman period and the Stone Age around the village. The countryside is dotted with dovecotes which are a curious aspect of the culture in the area. There are plenty of wildflife walks you can do in the garrigue scrub. (The Pech trail, the Dovecote trails...).
The Lordly Castle, which was built on a hillock, is in a strategically domineering location. Climb on to its terrace, and you will have an immense panoramic view accross the Orb plains.
