Tourism / Discovery
Saint-Ambroix is located 50 km north of Nîmes, in the Cèze valley. The former silk capital reveals its historic heritage through its well-preserved medieval monuments. Its location in the heart of the Cévennes offers magnificent hiking trails. The river running through the north of the town is a magnificent setting for walking, cycling or fishing.
The Dugas chapel is indisputably the most impressive monument in Saint-Ambroix.
With its imposing height (over 40 m), it dominates and protects the town. Other buildings bear witness to the medieval past of this ancient fortified town, such as the Guisquet tower. The Bonnet mill, meanwhile, dates back to the 12th century and was transformed over the years to become a flour mill, among other things.
Experience the popular traditions of Saint-Ambroix by discovering its local culture and the famous legend of Volo Biòu, a story of wine and a winged ox, the main theme of the festival held in July.
