Tourism / Discovery
The Pont du Gard is one of Occitania's must see monuments. The stone giant looms high above the River Gardon. It is a relic of Roman antiquity and a listed Unesco World Heritage Monument.
This acqueduct carried water from Uzès to Nîmes. It is 50 meters high and has 3 levels. It is the highest ancient bridge in the world !
The bridge is in an exceptional natural location and the view is breathtaking! There is supervised swimming in the Gardon, all through the summer. The site is a real cultural center and also proposes exhibitions, a museum space dedicated to children, and an open air discovery trail. You can even take a kayak on the river and observe the Roman acqueduct from the River Gardon between Remoulins and the Pont du Gard.
