Tourism / Discovery

Located 30 km from Montpellier, Le Grau-du-Roi is a coastal resort in the Camargue Regional Park, renowned for the marinas, beaches, events, hikes and activities organised throughout the year. Benefit from its 18 km coastline and immerse yourself in this nautical world: sailing, surfing, canoeing, boat trips… Le Grau-du-Roi is an ideal place to enjoy the sea. If you prefer to enjoy the land rather than the sea, this destination has plenty of other activities to offer. Numerous walks are organised, ideal for discovering the natural areas of the city and its hinterland. Whether you're with family, friends or on your own, on foot or by bike, take advantage of these free, friendly weekly events. The marina of Port-Camargue, the Pointe de l'Espiguette, the Camargue lakes and the Salins du Midi are also great places to explore, as is the walking and cycling trail leading to the medieval town of Aigues-Mortes. Camargue is a land steeped in traditions that have been perpetuated over the years. Today, bullfighting traditions and Languedoc jousting (water jousting) attract spectators in search of thrills and entertainment. These traditions are also reflected in the local gastronomy: mussels with chips, ‘bouillabaisse’ and grilled fish can all be eaten right on the quayside, near the fishing harbour in the town centre. Try the famous ‘sardinade’, ‘brasucade de moules’ (mussels) or ‘brandade de Nîmes’ (cod). There's plenty to do in this lively town: the Aqua-Camargue Centre, the Aventure Mini-golf course, the casino, the cabaret, the Amigoland theme park, the Seaquarium and the ‘Maison Méditerranéenne des Vins’ will keep everyone entertained. With its picturesque, unspoilt fishing harbour and the dynamic, modern atmosphere of Port-Camargue, Le Grau du Roi is definitely a must-see on the Camargue coast.
