Located between Anduze and Saint Jean du Gard, under the Cévenol reliefs of the National Park, the Grotte de Trabuc is a major cave of the destination.
Known since Antiquity, as evidenced by prehistoric bones found on site, it was also used in the 17th century during the Cévennes War (Reformation) as a refuge by the Camisards. Its name dates back to the 19th century, when the "Trabucaires", bandits equipped with a "Trabuc" (pistol with a large mouthpiece) took refuge in the cave.
