Motorhome area of Bellegarde (Gard)

Located in the golden triangle between Nîmes (15 km), Arles (20 km) and Avignon (40 km), the town of Bellegarde welcomes you to the Terre d’Argence, the most Provençal area of the Gard region. This sunny destination in the South of France can be discovered through its rich architectural heritage, preserved natural environment and traditional festivities. On the heritage side, don't miss the Château de Belle Garde, first mentioned in 1208 under the name "Castrum Bellae-Gardae". The remains of its medieval keep, known as "La Tour", located on La Madone, offer panoramic views over the Petite Camargue plain. The remains of the Bellegarde Aqueduct, built in the 1st century AD, can be seen at the Water Museum. The Pont Aerarius, which became the emblem of Bellegarde in 1922, can be admired on the Villamartin Gate, inspired by Andalusian architecture. Take advantage of the 12 km yellow-marked trail starting from the town centre to discover the main points of interest in this town strongly influenced by Roman history. Many other walking routes invite you to explore the surrounding countryside, including the Rispe Trail (2.7 km) and the Saint-Jean Path (6 km). Several routes are also suitable for cycling. Numerous lakes offer outdoor activities such as fishing, jet skiing and walking: Lake Sautebraut, Lake des Clairettes, Lake du Haut Broussan and Lake des Moulins. In keeping with Camargue traditions, Bellegarde hosts several major annual festivals: Spring Festival, from Ascension Thursday to Sunday, featuring Camargue-style bull events. For this occasion, Lake des Moulins hosts the traditional gaso. Bastille Day Festival (14 July) with encierro, pétanque competitions and fireworks. October Festival, considered the town's most important traditional celebration, featuring abrivado, bandido, encierro, Camargue bull races, dances and the Passo Carriero, a traditional historical parade.
