Between Bayonne, Mont-de-Marsan and Pau, make a stopover in the peaceful and charming village of Amou. Located in the Landes Chalosse, the region has a strong Gascon culture and traditions. You will be ideally situated 2 hours from the Pyrenees and 1 hour from the Atlantic Ocean. On the banks of the Luy de Béarn, stroll through the narrow streets of this ancient medieval town and appreciate its picturesque atmosphere. Admirate the Place de la Técouère with its admirable hundred-year-old plane trees, its church (12th century) and its bell tower, as well as its castle (not open to visitors). The Accrobranche site at Amou invites you to enjoy a playful moment in an exceptional setting during the fine weather. There are a number of tree courses to suit everyone, with different levels of difficulty. As for gastronomy, make sure to try the famous magret de canard (duck breast). Many restaurants offer it à la carte! Every Sunday, stroll through the stalls of the market held on the Place de la Técouère. Many hiking trails start from the village. Follow for instance the ‘Circuit du ruisseau des landes d’Andriaou’ itinerary and discover the surrounding plains of the Luy de Béarn. 7 km from Amou, take a step back in time with a visit to the Brassempouy Prehistosite. It is divided into several sites, each of which holds many secrets: the museum, the "Archéoparc", the "Grottes du Pape archaeological site" and the educational and scientific centre.
