The pretty town of Eymet marks the southern entrance to Périgord. Discover this medieval town, which has managed to protect the main remains of that era: admire its narrow streets at right angles, its timber-framed and arcaded houses, and its Gothic monuments. The village bastide, built on the banks of the Dropt river, is well worth a visit. Situated on the Place Gambetta, where a funfair is held, it is the centre of the town's activity. Overlooking the Dropt valley, you can also discover the private Château de Pouthet, also a National Heritage site. Its gardens have been awarded the “Jardin Remarquable” (Remarkable Garden) label, and the park features trimmed box trees and an avenue of cedars planted over 150 years ago. Thanks to its bucolic setting, Eymet is also a prime destination for lovers of outdoor activities. Take advantage of Lake Lescouroux and its 120 hectares of ponds.
