Welcome to the Saintonge Dorée Region, on Saint James Way, in this lovely countryside city whose symbols are Water, Stone and Grape... Wander the town, from the Piloris fountain to the Clock tower, through the alleyways between half-timbered medieval houses and townhouses (hôtels particuliers) from the 16th and 19th Centuries. It is located in the Boutonne valley, the boutonne being a slow quiet river on which the outdoor activity centre of Bernouët was built. You should definitely go for a walk around the lake! The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner ; there are many activities for kids and adults: fishing spots, paddle-boats, canoes and kayaks for rent, a mini-golf, a playground for kids... And all around the city, as far as the eye can see, there is nothing but vineyards.
