Tourism / Discovery

Perched between the Saâne and Dun valleys, Luneray is located less than 50 km north of Rouen. The town's history is marked by its weaving activities, which reached their peak in the 18th and 19th centuries. It was here in 1845 that the first weaving looms were installed, giving rise to the Ronchay weaving mills. Today, this is one of the largest production companies in France, using 100% local linen! There are still plenty of signs of this textile industry: the old dryers, street names and the famous "sentes à panier", narrow paths used by weavers. A picturesque way to explore the village on a tour that also takes you past the town's landmarks. For cycling enthusiasts, Luneray is a crossing point on the Véloroute du Lin, a 75 km route along a former railway line linking Pourville-sur-Mer to Fécamp. Another important aspect of Luneray's heritage is its Protestant community, as reflected in the magnificent temple built in 1807. If you're looking for a big breath of fresh air, head to Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer, just 10 km from Luneray. This pretty seaside resort boasts many colourful cabins and the largest beach on the Côte d'Albâtre. Swimming is supervised in July and August. Spend a day in Dieppe! Dieppe is the kite capital of France, and has activities for everyone: a unique heritage with its fortified castle, beaches lined with chalk and sand cliffs, and plenty of walks and hikes along the paths, through the town and around the harbour. Some of these outings will take you to breathtaking panoramas, particularly from the château or the Bonsecours chapel.
