Motorhome area of Le Mêle-sur-Sarthe (Orne)

Located 25 km from Alençon, Le Mêle-sur-Sarthe lies within the Normandie-Maine Regional Natural Park. This preserved area became a UNESCO Global Geopark in 2023 — a prestigious label recognizing the natural and cultural heritage of the region. The lake, located right next to the motorhome area, opens its leisure base during July and August with free access, supervised swimming, and a wide range of activities: pedal boats, mini-golf, children’s playgrounds, picnic areas, and a snack bar. Around the lake and all year round, you can enjoy fishing, paddleboarding, and canoeing. A walking trail lets you explore the unspoiled nature of the Pays Mêlois in peace and quiet. Le Mêle-sur-Sarthe is also located on the route of the "Véloscénie", a greenway connecting Paris to Mont-Saint-Michel via a former railway line. Ideally situated between the Perche hills and the plains of the Pays d’Alençon, the village is surrounded by nature and boasts a rich heritage, recognized by several labels such as "Villes et Villages Fleuris", "Village Étape", "Station Verte", and "Natura 2000" site. For both children and adults, a City Park in the town center offers a fun outdoor space: children's play areas, a ping-pong table, a multi-sports area (basketball, handball, football), a skatepark, and a pétanque court. Take time to discover the local history and traditions! The Percheron horse has been seen as a legendary animal in this region for nearly 150 years. This proud symbol is celebrated each year during a major event: the "Foire aux Poulains" (Foal Fair), held on the last Saturday of November. It is the largest gathering of Percheron horses in France.
