Ideally situated between Nancy and Epinal, come and discover the town of Charmes and stop off in the heart of Alsace! The town owes its name to the nearby Forêt de Ternes, where there are many walks accessible to all. This forest, mainly occupied by oak, beech and hornbeam trees, offers a bucolic setting for your outdoor activities. For waterside walks, the town is crossed by the Moselle and its canal, which runs all the way to Epinal.
Between the various waterways, it's an ideal path for walking or cycling. You might even spot some beavers or different species of birds!
To get a bird's eye view of the valley, head for the Haut-du-Mont hill, where you can see the town from a different angle between the different trees on the hill.
However, the town of Charmes is also well worth a visit. Admire the town's flower-filled streets and the various water features dotted around the town. Listed as a French Historic Monument for its chapel, the church of Saint-Nicolas awaits your visit! Built in 1493, it is representative of its Gothic style, despite its modern-style bell tower rebuilt in the 20th century.
