Motorhome area of Chavanges

Around fifty kilometres east of Troyes, Chavanges is a country town at the gateway to the Orient Forest Regional Park. Enjoy a pleasant stroll through this flower-filled village and visit the church of Saint-Gengoul de Chassericourt, listed as a National Heritage site. Chavanges has been hosting its autumn onion fair for over 30 years! Aube is actually the third largest onion-growing department in France. In June, the ‘course de caisse à oignons’ (literally ‘onion crate race’) takes place in the streets of Chavanges! The ‘onion crates’, original vehicles built by amateurs, race down a course in a festive and joyful atmosphere for all the family. A great laugh! Less than 15 kilometres from Chavanges, the Étang de la Horre Nature Reserve offers a bucolic break. Right in the heart of the Champagne wetlands, it lies on one of France’s main bird migration routes. Many species can be observed there, and there is a footpath to follow. Guided tours are available for groups on request. Reach Lake Der-Chantecoq just 20 kilometres away and enjoy its bountiful nature and renowned cycle path.
