Situated 25 km east of Orléans, the town of Saint-Denis-de-l'Hôtel is an excellent place from which to visit the Loire Valley! The region is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is renowned for its many châteaux and world-famous vineyards. Saint-Denis-de-l'Hôtel also has a lot to offer! Discover the church of Saint-Denis, built in the 16th century, a surprising monument as there are no pillars supporting its walls. The town was also home to the writer Maurice Genevoix, and you can find some of his works in the museum dedicated to him.
On the other side of the bridge over the Loire is the town of Jargeau, famous for its andouille sausage. Visit both towns and stroll along the banks of the Loire! Water sports are available along the Loire, giving the more adventurous a chance to admire the local flora and fauna in this Natura 2000 area in a different way.
This region is also the gateway to the châteaux of the Loire Valley. Admire the châteaux of Saint-Aignan (2 km), Châteauneuf-sur-Loire (7 km) and Sully-sur-Loire (25 km).
