Tourism / Discovery

Make a stopover in Veigné, a town located in the province of Touraine, 15 km south of Tours and just next to the Châteaux of the Loire Valley. This peaceful and charming village welcomes you by the Indre river. In the old town centre, admire some ancient monuments that bear witness to the town's rich heritage and past. A charming stroll among the old stones awaits you. The church of Saint-Maixent, with its 12th-century bell tower, is listed as a National Heritage Site and well worth a visit. Veigné is also home to fine properties, including the Domaine de la Tortinière. The path leading to it is part of the old Roman road from Tours to Montbazon! Also worth a visit are the Manoir de Beaupré, the Manoir de Taffonneau, the Château de Couzières, the Manoir de la Belle Jonchère, the Manoir de Fontiville and the Domaine de Thorigny. In total, there are around twenty beautifully renovated buildings that you will be able to admire during your stopover in Veigné, whether on foot or by bike. The old mill in Veigné has been transformed into a restaurant. On the menu: traditional French cuisine with inspiration from all over the world. The fortress of Montbazon (2.5 km from the campsite) houses the oldest keep still standing in France. Built from the 10th century onwards, it overlooks the town from the top of its rocky spur. The site is open to visitors from April to September and offers a full immersion in the Middle Ages.
