Tourism / Discovery
Settle in Ambon, a former salt-producing village with authentic Breton charm. In the heart of the village, discover the Church of Saint-Cyr and Saint-Julitte, listed as a Historic Monument. Mainly Romanesque in style, it bears witness to a long history dating back to the Gallo-Roman period.
Ambon also boasts a charming rural and religious heritage. The Brouël Chapel, built in the 16th century, recalls the time when boats came to load goods along the banks of the Pénerf River. Its Gothic architecture is well worth seeing.
Nature lovers can enjoy almost four kilometres of coastline and three main beaches: Tréhervé, Cromenac’h and Bétahon. Sandy shores, rocky coves, shellfish gathering and open views create the perfect setting to slow down and breathe in the sea air. Former salt marshes, meadows and woodland complete this varied landscape.
Walkers and cyclists can follow the Killig ar Mor trail or explore part of the GR 349 long-distance footpath. These routes pass through coastal hamlets, skirt wetlands and reveal Ambon’s heritage at a relaxed pace.
Ambon also enjoys an excellent location between Damgan, Muzillac and the Small Town of Character of La Roche-Bernard. It is an ideal destination for combining heritage, local food, hiking and seaside pleasures.
