Tourism / Discovery

Nolay is a medieval village in the Hautes Côtes de Beaune region, 70 km south of Dijon. The surroundings are a patchwork of famous vineyards, meadows, forests and impressive limestone cliffs. As you stroll through the charming streets, you will love the half-timbered houses, the old stonework and the listed monuments such as the covered market. Built in 1388, it is one of the oldest buildings of its type, with its solid framework covered in Burgundy slate. The church of Saint-Martin is another Gothic gem in the town, as is the nearby Jacquemarts bell tower. Follow the Voie des Vignes, a cycle path that runs along an old railway line and offers beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. Admire the tunnels, viaducts, vineyards and villages nestling in the valleys of the Cozanne. There are many hiking trails for all levels in the Beaune region. Starting in Nolay, enjoy the “Circuit de Saint-Antoine”. The 6-kilometre loop takes you over an ancient viaduct, along the banks of the Cozanne and past an ancient Roman road. Just 8 kilometres from the campsite, Mont Rome is a real picture-postcard landscape with its exceptional views over the Autunois and the surroundings of Nolay. Mont Rême and the Cirque du Bout du Monde are also well worth a visit on your trek. Get your gear ready, as the climb is quite steep!
