Situated at the gateway to the Forêts National Park, the small village of Chanceaux welcomes you for a green stay in the Dijon countryside. The MuséoParc Alésia recounts the history of the battle of Alésia, a founding date in the history of Gaul and France, which confronted two myths: Julius Caesar and Vercingetorix. This interpretation centre, suitable to everyone, is located on the exact site of the battle, right next to the village of Alise-Sainte-Reine. A beautiful journey into the ancient period awaits you! The site of the Seine sources, classified as a Natural zone of ecological interest, fauna and flora (ZNIEFF), is the precise place where the river begins. A grotto designed by Baltard under Napoleon III houses a white stone nymph symbolising the river. The pilgrims attributed healing virtues to these sources. You can also enjoy a nice walk in the park. Within a radius of 30 km around Chanceaux, discover the pretty little villages and medieval towns of Burgundy such as Saint-Seine-l’Abbaye, Flavigny-sur-Ozerain (classified as one of the « Plus Beaux Villages de France ») or Semur-en-Auxois. Visit the Grande Forge de Buffon, a masterpiece of 18th century industrial heritage classified as a National Heritage Site. Composed of a domestic and an industrial part, the building illustrates the scientific genius of the Enlightenment.
