63 km south of Clermont-Ferrand, Picherande is located at the foot of the Massif de Sancy (altitude between 997 m and 1,720 m). Far from the hustle and bustle, enjoy one of the best views in the region. In the heart of the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Park, the village is really appreciated for its proximity to the ski resorts, including Super Besse.
Picherande is an ideal and natural spot for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Situated between the southern and western slopes, access to other skiing areas of the massif: in total, 52 km slopes through the forest await you!
On sunny days, enjoy numerous activities around Lake Gayme and the peat bog: boules pitch, mountain-bike trail for children, table tennis table, hiking trails, fishing… Relax and have fun in this incredible setting surrounded by nature.
Enjoy the exceptional flora and fauna of the Fontaine Salée valley, located on the southern slopes of the Massy, all year round. Now a protected area, it lets you admire the snowy landscapes of the glaciers that overlook the valley at a height of over 1,700 m. In spring, the snow gives way to a green landscape used for grazing, where many animal species can be found and streams are formed again. Discover all this during your hike on the GR 30 trail!
