Allègre is a medieval village at the foot of the stromboli volcano Mont Bar, known in Europe for its peat bog. This “Natura 2000” classified site is easily accessible thanks to the educational trail presenting all the natural and cultural resources of the volcano.
The Mont Baury, West of Allègre, also promises you beautiful walks, such as the "Allègre aux deux volcans", a fun, family and interactive walk of 1h30.
This destination has a very rich history, many vestiges can testify to it: the castle of Allègre, started in 1385, remains today thanks to a few fragments of the buildings, the most imposing of which dominates the town, the "potence". The Notre Dame de l'Oratoire chapel is also an essential part of the history of this “Petite Cité de Caractère”.
A fun activity to share: the velo-rail opens in May, during long weekends and in July/August, every day.
