Labeled "Village étape" in 2001, Massiac offers travelers a stop-over in a peaceful setting in the heart of a green valley.
This small town of less than 2,000 inhabitants is home to an important religious and historical heritage, highlighted through its monuments. The Élise Rieuf Museum presents two female artists of the 1930s, Élise Rieuf and Charlotte Musson, whose style is quite unique.
Some monuments are not to be missed during your stay in Massiac. The Saint-André church for instance, built in neo-gothic style, is remarkable for its magnificent opening virgin statue from the 15th century. The Sainte-Madeleine Chapel is also surprising, located at the top of the Challet plateau.
The Alagnon river is very popular for its biodiversity and its layout is perfect for fishing enthusiasts.
The gourmet specialty of the destination? The Massiac macaroon, made from hazelnut powder. Don't leave without a small box!
