Located between Montélimar and Alès, Sampzon is a peaceful village by a river and ideally situated to visit the Ardèche. Start by a hike around the Rocher de Sampzon to have a panoramic viewpoint on the Vivarais, the Cévennes, the Ardèche mountains and the Lozère mount. While visiting the historic centre, discover the Saint-Martin church, traditional houses and the Bastide castle.
The campsite is only a few kilometers from the Ardèche gorges and the Pont d’Arc. This nature reserve is home to the Chauvet cave, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The cave is considered the first great masterpiece of humanity!
Fully enjoy the Ardèche gorges by canoeing down the river or hiking on the trails.
The « Via Ardèche » cycle path links Voguë to Grospierres and crosses Sampzon. Reach it easily from the stopover area. The 28 km cycle path on the former railway will take you to the Balazuc, Voguë and Bastide viaducts. The latter offers an incredible view on the Rocher de Sampzon and the Cévennes mountains.
In the surroundings, do not miss these villages: Balazuc, Voguë (listed among the « Plus Beaux Villages de France »), Labeaume…
