About fifteen kilometers from Montluçon, welcome to Reugny, a small commune in the Allier department, located along the Cher River and the Canal de Berry.
Beautiful cycling routes await you along the Canal de Berry. From Magnette (Audes – Reugny), ride upstream to Saint-Amand-Montrond to enjoy a green route along the foothills of the Massif Central, or head downstream toward Montluçon.
Starting from Reugny, a 6.8 km hiking trail (black level – very difficult) crosses the hillsides and leads you to the heights of Petit and Grand Montavent. Stunning panoramic views over the Cher Valley are revealed along the way.
Lovers of quality products should take the time to visit Monsieur Balthazar’s distillery, where aromas can be sampled through special flakes for an olfactory tasting. You will find it hard to resist his Bourbonnais straight whisky named “Hedgehog”, the house specialty.
Around Reugny, don’t miss the Canal de Berry Museum (3 km away) and its remarkable collection, including two barge models, one made of wood and the other of metal. A little further away (23 km), the Tronçais Forest is one of the most beautiful forest areas in France and offers numerous walks and surprising discoveries.
